Dr. Lucy Santos Green, Lead Co-Principal Investigator

Director of the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Iowa, Dr. Lucy Santos Green has over twenty years of experience as a classroom teacher, school librarian, school library educator, and internationally recognized researcher in mixed methodology with publications in technology-integration for K-12 settings, instructional design, online pedagogy in higher education and K-12, online learning communities, and culturally competent school librarianship.

Dr. Green is the current co-editor of School Libraries Worldwide, the official research journal for the International Association of School Librarianship, and president-elect of the Association for Library and Information Science Education. Her latest book, “LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Children's Librarianship: Policies, Programs, and Practices,” is now available in print and as an e-book.

Kristin Fontichiaro, Co-Principal Investigator

Kristin Fontichiaro is a clinical professor at the University of Michigan School of Information. An award-winning educator, she has taught students across K-12 and at the graduate level. A former elementary school librarian, her previous IMLS-funded work includes work on community-responsive makerspaces and the integration of data literacy skills and strategies into libraries' information literacy work.

Beyond school libraries, she coordinates the world's largest certificate program in public library management on the Edx.org platform, coordinates multiple public library leadership initiatives, and has worked with academic librarians and data scientists on developing data communication skills and tools.

Dr. Melissa P. Johnston, Co-Principal Investigator

Melissa P. Johnston is a Professor at the University of West Georgia, where she teaches graduate courses in the school library media program.
She worked as a school librarian for 13 years in Georgia before obtaining her PhD at Florida State University. Johnston’s research and publications focus on the school librarian’s leadership role in integrating technology.

She is the author of numerous articles in journals such as School Library Research and School Library Connection, and co-editor of School Libraries Worldwide. Johnston is the Primary Investigator for the REALISD Project, an IMLS funded grant, to provide professional development for rural school librarians to support STEM education efforts in their schools. 

Dr. Enilda Romero-Hall, Instructional Specialist

Dr. Enilda Romero-Hall is an award-winning Associate Professor in the Learning, Design, & Technology program at The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Dr. Romero-Hall serves as the Graduate Coordinator of the Instructional Design and Technology program and recently joined the curation team of the Feminist Pedagogy for Teaching Online guide. 

Fluent in English and Spanish, and with extensive experience in the educational systems of Panama, Canada, and the United States, Dr. Romero-Hall brings her unique perspective as an Afro-Latinx woman to her work as an instructional design researcher and pedagogue.

Dr. Liz Hartnett, Project Manager

As Program Coordinator at the South Carolina Center for Community Literacy (SCCCL), Hartnett develops and manages an array of continuing education opportunities for the iSchool at UofSC, serving public and school library practitioners and educators.

In addition to her duties at SCCCL, Hartnett teaches in the MLIS program for UofSC, primarily in the areas of school librarianship and children’s literature.
